About Us

Mike Rotondo, the founder of Portside Renewables LLC, embarked on his solar energy journey in 2007, inspired by a book on photovoltaics from Solar Energy International https://www.solarenergy.org/ Starting as an entry-level installer at Solar Wrights Energy in Bristol, RI, in 2008, he transitioned with the company’s growth into Alteris Energy, known for nurturing industry talent. Alongside renewable energy leaders, Mike refined his skills, laying the groundwork for his future ventures.

Portside Renewables LLC embodies Mike’s enduring vision since entering the industry. Prior to his foray into solar, Mike owned a small construction business. From the outset, his aspiration was to absorb knowledge and experience, ultimately aiming to re-enter the business owner space armed with unparalleled expertise in renewable energy. Holding electrical licenses across multiple New England states and certified by NABCEP https://www.nabcep.org/ since 2010, Mike is esteemed for his commitment to excellence, evident in his continuous pursuit of education. 

Residing in Fairhaven, MA, for 13 years, Mike treasures the community with his wife of 22 years, Hillary, and their two children. Their home is a sanctuary for rescued animals, including three dogs, two cats, and a rabbit, all former shelter residents. Beyond his professional pursuits, Mike enjoys BMX bike riding, outdoor adventures like camping and hiking, and working around the yard, finding joy in both his personal and professional life.
